Sonia Kashuk Shine Luxe Lipsticks: Swatches and Review

I must say, it is immensely refreshing to discover several new makeup loves all at once! I had a few letdowns recently while testing new products, and then all of the sudden, the last several products in a row I've tried have THRILLED me (reviews forthcoming, good and bad, if I can find enough energy and free time to write them all). One of these products that bowled me over was Sonia Kashuk's new lipstick line, Shine Luxe. I read a couple of reports on Makeup Alley that the formula was similar to my all-time favorite formula, Chantecaille Lip Chics. That juicy bit of information alone was enough to make me go buy two of them that very day, despite my dislike for buying makeup at Target (due to the lack of testers, combined with how most won't allow returns of any used makeup). I started out with Sheer Pink Lust and Sheer Melon.

I took them home, wore Sheer Pink Lust for several hours that night, and then in fact went to bed without removing it. I was astounded to wake up the next morning and find my lips in better shape than they were the night before (my chronically dry lips are usually chapped and peeling in the mornings). So then I wore Sheer Melon all day, touching up as needed, and after 12 hours of consistent wear time found my lips still looked and felt excellent. Here you can see both on me:

My assessment is that I couldn't agree more with what I read: they look and feel like Lip Chics to me and are just as moisturizing. YAY! Another formula to love, and this one at such a great price point! So, and this should surprise no one, I bought the rest of the shades my Target had (which was the entire line, except for a fuchsia color that apparently hasn't made it to my area yet). Check them out!

Yum. I honestly think Sheer Seashell is the only one in this range that isn't flattering on me, and even then I might be able to wear it - you guessed it - sheerly. Ahahahaha, I crack myself up. Really though, I'll probably beg them to let me exchange it for the fuchsia one when they get it in stock, because I'm sure I'll love that one too!

In short, I can't rave about these enough. They feel GREAT on my lips and I think they look great, too, if I do say so myself. I can easily see myself using some of these colors all the way up and needing to repurchase... they're that good. Better yet, I can repurchase guilt-free since they aren't $35 each like Lip Chics and Guerlain Rouge Automatiques!
