The Creme Fraiche Light moisturizer is just how it sounds in texture - a light and refreshing gel that sinks into the skin immediately - not at all rich or heavy. I will say right off the bat that I would not recommend this for drier skin as I don't think it would provide enough moisture. For my combination/oily skin, it works fantastically, even in the wintertime. It has a potent earthy scent that I can smell on my skin for about 15 minutes after applying - Boyfriend invariably tells me I smell good if he comes near me after I've put some on - but I don't smell it on my skin anymore after that. I have never encountered another moisturizer that sinks in so quickly and works so well under makeup and yet retains the ability to keep my skin moisturized throughout the day as this product. My oily areas get a little less oily throughout the day when I use it, and I can say with 100% certainty by this point that it does not clog my pores or break me out in the least.
Creme Fraiche Light has no sunscreen, so you will need to apply a separate sunscreen after using it, but I prefer it that way. Additionally, it contains a mild AHA (chemical) exfoliant to keep your skin smooth, and let me tell you, my skin is the smoothest it's ever been since I started using this moisturizer in the mornings paired with my Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid (reviewed here) at night. What might surprise you, given the AHA content, is that this product is still recommended for sensitive skin, but I must agree; my skin has reacted poorly to strong AHA treatments I've tried in the past, but it seems to love Creme Fraiche Light used as a morning moisturizer. I swear to you that someone at work actually said to me the other day, "Your skin looks so smooth, I just want to touch it!" and made a stroking motion with her hand. What a lovely compliment!
I have used my tube up about halfway now and I know I will find a way to repurchase it after it's gone, either online or through European friends. Being the beauty addict that I am, I have about 3 other full size moisturizers I need to work my way through and that I want to review as well, so I may take a break from it for a while once it's gone, but I know that come summertime (if not sooner) I will absolutely crave using this product again. For those who think this sounds great but have a different skin type, Nuxe also makes a Creme Fraiche de Beaute (for normal skin) and a Creme Fraiche de Beaute Enrichie (for dry skin).
Readers, have you tried this or any other Nuxe skincare items? I would love to hear your thoughts!
