Last but CERTAINLY not least in the Rouge Bunny Rouge Swatch Week marathon: the eyeshadows! These are to die for - buttery, smooth, and oh-so-wonderfully-pigmented. As the company claims, they are long-lasting on my eyes, although I never wear eyeshadow out of the house without primer underneath (I use NARS' eye primer). I have worn some shades at home for several hours without creasing, though, which is impressive given how oily my eyelids get.
These can be purchased in 1" round refill pans (only available for some colors) or in pots with slightly larger pans. I currently have a mixture of both and plan to depot my potted ones eventually. (If anyone has any tips on depotting RBR specifically, I'd love to hear!) I bought all of these colors from Zuneta.com and BeautyHabit.com during online sales. For your information, I was told by BeautyHabit customer service that the following shades (the last two of which are not swatched here) are being discontinued: Periwinkle Cardinal, Mysterious Tinamou, Resplendant Quetzal, Mountain Bluebird, Bejewelled Skylark, Electrifying Storm-Petrel, Tantalizing Lovebird, and Veiled Lyrebird. It's possible that others are being discontinued too, this was not intended to be a comprehensive list (just a response to a list of colors I personally asked about), but I thought you'd want to know.
Now... the swatches!!!!
Left to right: Resplendent Quetzal, Periwinkle Cardinal, Mountain Bluebird, Whispering Ibis, Delicate Hummingbird, Lilac Reef Curassow (satin)
Left to right: Abysinnian Catbird, Umber Firefinch, Grey Go-Away Lourie (matte), Electrifying Storm-Petrel, Trumpeter Koel (satin), Volcano Fairy-Wren
Left to right: Fire-Tailed Sunbird, Angelic Cockatiels, Golden Rhea, Sweet Dust Seriema (matte), Solstice Halcyon (satin), Bohemian Waxwing
Left to right (the two I sadly forgot somehow when swatching the main sets): Mysterious Tinamou, Bejewelled Skylark
So. Most of these have an incredibly creamy, buttery texture and metallic finish that I positively swoon over. The ones I have labeled as mattes are also incredibly creamy and buttery, just (obviously) without the shimmer; they are, in fact, the nicest mattes I've ever tried. Nicer than Urban Decay's mattes, MAC's mattes or Matte2s, even Inglot's mattes. I recently purchased the rest of the RBR mattes not pictured here and will re-swatch all the mattes together once they arrive. The "satins" (Lilac Reef Curassow, Solstice Halcyon, and Trumpeter Koel) are a bit more powdery and the shimmer is more sparse; for those three, I don't love the texture as much. It's definitely not bad, it's just not so amazing I want to scream it from the rooftop (which IS how I feel about the other shades!).
I'd love to tell you which ones are my favorites, but I think that would be like Sophie's Choice and I might start crying just thinking about it.
