My MAC Mineralize Skinfinish collection (so far)

Hi guys!

Whew - that blog sale has been keeping me busy. All paid orders that have come in so far have been shipped, btw!

So I wanted to feature for you today my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (MSF) collection. I said "so far" in the title because I'm in the process of trying to acquire a few more of these through swaps (By Candlelight and Shimpagne should be in my hot little hands soon... and if anyone has a Refined they want to send my way, let me know and we can work something out for it!). I'll post more swatches sometime later on when my collection has expanded further.

These are pretty much my favorite highlighters out there. I also have a variety of other powder, liquid, and cream highlighters from other brands, but the ones I still tend to reach for most often are my MSFs. Among my current collection, the one I use by far the most often is Perfect Topping (on which the dome is almost flat now!), and runners-up are Blonde, Lightscapade, and Soft and Gentle.

Here are the ones I use as cheekbone highlighters:

 Perfect Topping:

Soft and Gentle:

Light Flush:

Porcelain Pink:

And here are the ones that are a bit darker/brighter, which I tend to only use layered over other blushes for added glow (rather than on my cheekbones):

Light Year:

Star Wonder:

Stereo Rose:

Now, I'm not 100% satisfied with ALL of these. Porcelain Pink tends to leave me feeling a bit underwhelmed - I may be purging that one from my stash soon. Light Year and Stereo Rose, while objectively gorgeous, may simply be too burnt orange to look good on my skin tone. I've found other orangey blushes I love on me (the Sephora + Pantone duo, Tarte Tipsy, Chanel Espiegle, etc.) but these ones I haven't been able to make work as of yet. They were relatively recent acquisitions, though, so I intend to give each one at least a couple more test runs before I purge those two as well.

What are your favorite MSFs? Are there any you think are sorely missing from my collection, that would look great with my N/NW10 coloring? What are your other favorite highlighters?

Disclaimer: I purchased the product(s) featured in this post myself.

  1. I love Star Wonder! It is so beautiful! I really want to try stereo rose. I haven't used these in a while, but this makes me want to go buy some more

    1. Star Wonder is lovely, and definitely easier to work with than Stereo Rose!

  2. Soft and Gentle is my cup of tea. Thank you for sharing this with us!

    1. You're welcome! I love that one for warm-toned looks.
