Nordstrom welcomes Chantecaille!

Hi again, loves. Please don't hurt me for making yet another swatch-less post, but this news is so big, I can't contain my excitement. (I'm actually not just slacking off on blogging right now. Instead, I'm being a good student and working on my finals!)

Anyway, without further ado: I've just received official confirmation from the store manager at the Nordstrom in Bellevue, WA that the rumors quietly circulating the last few months are true...

Nordstrom is going to begin carrying Chantecaille in Spring 2010.

He says that the initial roll-out phase will include approximately 15 stores. I don't know which 15 they will be, though for those of you in the Seattle area, he did confirm that the Bellevue store will start selling Chantecaille sometime this February. I would also presume that the downtown Seattle store will, since that one is Nordstrom's flagship store. GET EXCITED, PEOPLE! :)

P.S. I know some of you limit yourselves to drugstore cosmetics, and I respect that. That's why I try to provide some balance between higher- and lower-end brands in my swatches and reviews. But I must confess... Chantecaille is definitely one of my top brands, in that it very rarely disappoints and nearly always amazes me!

P.P.S. The picture above is from Chantecaille's website and depicts three shades of Lip Chics. I chose that picture to support this post in honor of my all-time favorite lipstick formulation (... which is the Lip Chic, in case that wasn't immediately apparent). :)

  1. I've never heard of that brand before but I am mostly a drugstore kind of gal.

  3. Scientific Housewife (great username, by the way!), I've posted a little bit on them before - if you click the "Chantecaille" label on the blog, it'll pull up my previous post regarding their products (Brilliant Glosses). They're definitely more expensive than what you'll find in the drugstore, but they're worth it, in my honest opinion!

Shiya, I've never seen anything in Nordstrom stores that wasn't also on their website, so I'm sure it'll end up there eventually! :)

  4. Please--I'd love a list of the Chantecaille products you think are worth the dough. Will you enlighten me? xo

  5. I'd love to, M :) Definitely the Lip Chics and Brilliant Glosses. I adore (and own) many of their eyeshadows and blushes too, but I wouldn't argue as vehemently that they're "worth the dough" as much as the lip products are, since there are a lot of great eyeshadows and blushes out there but few lip products that are really comparable to the quality of Chantecaille's Lip Chics and Brilliant Glosses (in my opinion, of course).

With that said, I find the quality is very consistent with Chantecaille's eyeshadows. With low-end and high-end cosmetics alike, I find that there are a lot of hits and misses (in terms of quality/texture/pigmentation/etc., not how well colors work for me). However, I have never found a Chante eyeshadow to be chalky or any of those other things. (I feel I should add here that I've heard similar things about Rock & Republic eyeshadows, which you can see swatches of at http://karlasugar.blogspot.com, but I have not yet tried those myself.)

I have similar comments about the blushes, though I feel strongly that they are a product potential consumers should try before buying (each shade!) because they have a tendency to work strangely with body chemistry; I know of a few that turn orange on me (though most don't oxidize at all), a different few that turn orange on someone else I know, etc. (Charming Aquablush does seem to be one of the more universally flattering and unique products they make, though.)

The other thing I would add is that you can often get good prices on a lot of these things on eBay. Email me if you want some seller recommendations!

  6. Whoops, I meant to say "With low-end and high-end cosmetic BRANDS alike, I find that there are a lot of hits and misses..."

Wish I could edit my comments like I can edit my posts, without having to delete and repost them!

  7. Oh gosh, here I am failing again. I also forgot to mention the Just Skin tinted moisturizer. So expensive, but I LOVE that stuff! Future Skin foundation is nice too, but I don't know if I'd repurchase it or not. And the Compact Makeup powder foundation is also very pretty, but I'd be hypocritical if I said it's "worth the money" since I haven't bought one for myself yet. I want to, though!
